Marvin E. Spencer, 75, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, February 12, at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 2, 1938, in Marshalltown, the son of Scott and Daisy Washington Spencer. He married Theresa Williams on March 27, 1965, in Marshalltown.

Marvin was a well-known musician in the area for many years and was inducted in the Iowa Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa of Waterloo; two sons, Marvin Spencer, Jr, and Marty Spencer all of Waterloo; two daughters, Tricia (David) Norwood of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif, and Tracie Spencer of Calabasas, Calif; a daughter-in-law, Joni Spencer of Waterloo; 4 grandchildren, Jadyn Spencer, Jaclyn Spencer, Makayla Norwood, and Marcella Norwood; three brothers, Frank (Colleen) Spencer of Waterloo, Craig (Carol) Spencer and Julian Spencer all of Marshalltown; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Claude Spencer, Calvin Spencer, Wayne Spencer, Leonard Spencer, and Lawrence Spencer; three sisters, Pearl Winston, Barbara Jean Spencer and Daisy Spencer both in infancy.

Public visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway. A private family service will take place Saturday.
