Rev. Gary C. Maxwell of Keota, Oklahoma was born April 17, 1951 in Keota to
Curtis and Lavelle Maxwell and passed away February 12, 2014 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, at the age of 62.
He is survived by;
His loving wife of 40 years, Sheila Maxwell
Two sons:
Trucky Maxwell of Keota, Oklahoma
Dow Maxwell and fiance', Penni, and daughter, Alexis, of Keota, Oklahoma
One sister:
Karen Berninger and husband, Tom, of Duncan, OK
Two brothers:
Gale Maxwell and wife, Pat, of Keota, OK
Ray Maxwell and wife, Dixie, of Keota, OK
Grandchildren:
Mackenzie Maxwell, Trace Maxwell, and Adison Maxwell
Mother in law: Kathleen McClary of Keota, Oklahoma
Numerous nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law, and friends
He is also survived by his loving church family.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Lavelle Maxwell; one sister, Brenda Maxwell; one niece, Brandi (Davis) Greenwood; and father-in-law, Ermal McClary.
Gary was an equipment trader, farmer, trucking company operator, and county commissioner for 12 years. Gary started Mission Baptist Church in 1993, which soon became Unity Baptist Church, where he pastored and devoted his life to for 21 years. His greatest loves were his family, the church, and his church family. Some of Gary's final words were "Tell the church this old preacher loves the church and everyone in it."

Funeral services will be 2 pm Monday February 17, 2014 at Unity Baptist Church with Rev. Tommie Parker, Rev. Larry Harris, and Rev. Charles Carry officiating and Scott Welch eulogist. Burial will follow in Keota Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory of Stigler. Viewing at Mallory Chapel, Keota: Fri. 11am to 7pm, Sat. 9am to 7pm, Sun. 1pm to 5pm.
