Son of Chester Baker and Louisa West (transcript of death record).

Alonzo mustered in as a Private in Company A of the 4th Regiment, Vermont infantry on August 24, 1863. He transferred to the US Navy on April 1864,and deserted on June 29, 1865.

The "Gazetteer and Business Directory of Windsor County, Vt., for 1883-84" indicates that Alonzo's farm was in Bridgewater Corners. He had 12 dairy cows and 700 sheep.

A death announcement was published in the Spirit of the Age(Woodstock, Vt.)March 26, 1910.
