WADSWORTH - Robert L. Curtis, 77, died February 7, 2014.
He was born December 28, 1936, in Weston, West Virginia, to the late Henry and Anna Curtis.
A longtime area resident, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Robert played fast pitch softball for over 40 years, coached girls softball at The University of Akron and Cleveland State University and was inducted into the Ohio Softball Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his son, Kelly (Monica) Curtis; grandsons, Logan and Walker; siblings, Ella Harvilic, Millie Easley, Lynn Curtis and Jack (Betty) Burkhammer and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m. at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman Street, in Wadsworth, where Pastor Charles Marshall will conduct funeral service Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Northeast Ohio Chapter, 6100 Rockside Woods, Suite 445, Independence, OH 44131.
