Actress. A popular singer and film performer, she is remembered for twice capturing the Myanmar Academy Award. Born in what was then British Burma, she took to show business early and made her 1953 recording debut with the song "Khin yu swe". After making her silver screen bow in 1958's "A Thet", she was signed to a contract that led to a number of movie appearances, with Myanmar Academy Award wins for the 1961 "Ko Paing Myitta" and for 1975's "Shwe Chi Ngwe Tan Ba Lo". She had a few other cinematic performances, cut several best selling albums, remained a well-respected member of her country's entertainment community, and lived out her days in her native city.
