PAYNE, SYLVIA GILLIAM - age 98, of Fountain City, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 after a brief illness. Sylvia was born in Livingston, Kentucky, graduated as a Registered Nurse in Dayton, Kentucky and practiced nursing in Berea, Kentucky, Michigan, and North Carolina prior to moving to Knoxville in 1941. She was a member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church. She served on the board of directors for the Knoxville chapter of The American Red Cross, and active in the Knoxville academy of Medicine Auxiliary for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. F.H. Payne, a physician in Fountain City, and granddaughters Kelly Camron Walsh and April Morgan Bartine. Survived by sister Lottie Bender and daughters Sylvia Ann Hermosillo and husband Hank, Carolyn P. Walsh and Barbara Morgan & husband Paul Morgan; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 15th from 12:00-1:00 pm with funeral service following at 1:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Rev. Darrel Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Red Cross. www.mynattfh
