Bernard C. Ellingsworth, 81, of Terre Haute passed away at 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
Born April 9, 1922, he was the son of Benjamin W. and Laura Maher Ellingsworth.
He had been employed with Indiana State University for 20 years in the Athletic Department as the equipment manager, retiring June 1, 1985.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael A. and Molly Ellingsworth of West Terre Haute; daughters and sons-in-law, Anna Lee and Terry W. Dowell of Terre Haute, Mary Katherine and Danny G. Akers of Terre Haute, and Pamela Sue and Mark D. Richardt of Danville; a sister, Mary Jo Canal of Terre Haute; brother, William Ellingsworth and wife Virginia of Miami Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Jamie A. Akers of Terre Haute, Brian "Bo" Dowell of Jacksonville, Fla., Joshua M. Dowell of Jasper, Emily M. Ellingsworth of West Terre Haute, Matthew C. Dowell of Terre Haute, Peter F. Ellingsworth of West Terre Haute, Lori Beth Richardt of Danville, Lindsey M. Richardt of Danville, Chad Anthony Akers of Terre Haute, Amanda S. Richardt of Danville, and Casey K. Ellingsworth of West Terre Haute; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bernard Charles Ellingsworth Jr. in 1949; brothers, Acle, Raymond, Clifford, Richard and Thomas Ellingsworth; and sisters, Jessie Davis, Katherine Volkers and Anna Anderson. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
