PARKS — Sue Evelyn Copas Parks, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, after an extended illness. She was born on Sept. 23, 1932, in Macon County Tenn., to the late Hillus and Ola Smith Copas. She grad uated from high school in Tompkinsville, Ky., and attended Draughon's Business College in Nashville. It was during the time of attending a slumber party of a classmate, Audra Parks from Shelbyville, that she met the other brother, William Alfred, known at that time as Billy. They were married almost 60 years when Bill died in 2012. Also preceding in death was a son, Leslie. Surviving are her children, Larry (Donna) Parks, Shelbyville; Laura (Anthony) Phillips, Mur freesboro; Lyndell Parks, Murfreesboro, and Leland (Melody) Parks, Bloomfield, Ky.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Evelyn was a homemaker and after children left home was secretary of the New Duck River Baptist Association. She was a member of Shelbyville Mills Baptist Church for more than 50 years serving in numerous positions and as a choir member. She was a member of the Gideon Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and First Choice Pregnancy Center. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Shelbyville Mills Baptist Churdh where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. Feld haus Memorial Chapel, Shelbyville, in charge of arrangements.
