ZINKUS, John Joseph, 95, of New Martinsville, WV, died Monday, February 10, 2014, at OVMC, Wheeling, WV.

John was born on November 18, 1918, in Herrin, IL, the son of the late Cecelia Alisauskas and Charles Zenko.

He was one of three boys. His dad was a tunnel digger for the Chicago subway system.

In 1941, he married Katherine Seccuro from Fairmont, WV.

In 1960, the family moved to New Martinsville and he began working at Ormet. He worked there for 23 years.

John was a 54-year member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a member of The Knights of Columbus chapter for 29 years. He also served in the Bingo Club at St. Vincent's for many years.

Last year, John and Katherine were honored by Marriage Encounter as the oldest married couple in the state of West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Katherine; his daughter, Carol Ann Bell and her husband, Samuel from Church Hill, MD; his son, John Charles Zinkus and his wife, Doreen, from Springfield, VA; his sister, Cecelia Lescyneski and her husband, Frank, from Chicago, IL; his brother, Charles, from New Martinsville; four grandchildren, Matthew Zinkus and his wife, Jennifer French, from Dubai, Kim Johnson and her husband, Tripp, from Scottsdale, AZ, Jennifer Manning and her husband, Scott, from Chicago, IL; and Michelle Allen from Atlanta, GA; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Rachel and Katie from Atlanta, Zoe and Zane from Chicago, and Madeleine from Dubai.

Family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third Street, New Martinsville.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 21 Rosary Road, New Martinsville, with Fr. John McDonough as celebrant.

Burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, New Martinsville where the Honor Guard will conduct military graveside services.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 21 Rosary Road, New Martinsville, WV 26155.
