Edward J. Klaumann, son of Henry and Mary Klaumann, was born on a farm near Cuba, Kan., April 5, 1889 and departed this life at his home in Cuba June 27, 1954, at the age of 65 years, 2 months and 22 days.
He was united in marriage to Anna Svoboda June 28, 1910. To this union two daughters were born. They started their married life on a farm southeast of Cuba and he farmed until 1934 when he and his wife started a cream station in Belleville. The following year, they moved to Cuba where they were in the cream business for 11 years until failing health forced him to retire.
Ed, as he was called by all who knew him, was a good neighbor, a kind husband, father and grandfather. He remained cheerful and patient, despite his lingering illness for many years.
Preceded in death by his parents, two half-brothers, Henry and Louis, and one half-sister, Mrs. Amelia Proft, he leaves to mourn his loving wife, Anna; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ann Barton of Cuba and Mrs. Viola F. Giblin of Omaha, Neb.; one brother, Arthur C. Klaumann of Clay Center; four half-brothers, Lawrence and Herman of Cuba, John of Mahaska and Leonard of Wayne; five half-sisters, Mrs. Caroline Hadachek of Wayne, Mrs. Mathilda Havel of Belleville, Mrs. Julia Sedlachek of Cuba, Mrs. Albina Havel of Belleville, and Elnora Reynolds of Cuba; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Cuba Presbyterian church June 29. The Rev. Amos Rundus officiating and interment was made in National (Kopsa) cemetery.
