Evelyn Marie Karlin, 87, of Great Bend, died Sept. 2 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. She was born June 24, 1915, at Victoria, the daughter of Joseph A. and Anna Lang Rupp.

She married Henry W. Karlin on June 24, 1935, at Hays. He died May 25, 1978.

A resident of Great Bend since 1947, coming from Hays, she was a retired greeter at Wal-Mart, and worked as a cook for Knights of Columbus and USD 428. Mrs. Karlin was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, St. Rose Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella and AARP, all of Great Bend.

Survivors include one son, Ronald J. Karlin of Great Bend; two daughters, Lucille Davis and June Hillman, both of Great Bend; two sisters, Rozella Augustine and Regina Moore, both of Hays;
13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Linke; two brothers, Ralph Rupp and Earl Rupp; one sister, Mary Ann Neely; and one great-grandson, Aaron Sisson.

Altar Society rosary will be at 3 today at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Vigil service will be at 7:30 tonight, followed by Daughters of Isabella rosary, all at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Revs. Charles Mazouch and Angel Dy officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.
