Once Lockport Resident
Mrs. Effie F. Hyde,, 88, of 9470 Main St., Clarence, formerly of Lockport, died Thursday at Mount View Hospital after a short illness. She had resided at the Clarence address with a daughter Mrs. Robert (Blanche) McGill, for five years.
Born in the Town of Newfane July 25, 1881, Mrs. Hyde was the daughter of Fred H. and Bertha Maxwell Ferguson. Her husband, John A. Hyde, died in 1940.
While in Clarence she was active in the Golden Agers and was a member of First United Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Lockport. For many years she had made her home with Jay Duncan, a relative, of Ridge Road, Lockport.
Surviving in addition to her daughter, Mrs. McGill, is another daughter, Mrs. E.D. (Annagene) Davidson of Orlando, Fla., two sons, John A. Hyde of Lockport and R. Max Hyde of Middleport. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. George Duncan of Johnson Creek and Mrs. Florence Hartwell of Newfane; one brother, Hiram H. Ferguson of Newfane; 11 grandchildren; six great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Fred Hyde of Newfane.
Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, friends may call at their conveneience at the Lange Funeral Home, 186 East Ave., Lockport, where funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. The family will be present at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Burial will be in West Somerset Cemetery, Appleton.
Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.
