LOCATION: Severn, Maryland
James Ronald Ash, Sr., a resident of Severn, MD, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at his home, at the age of 77, surrounded by his family. Jim was born on November 19, 1936 in Elizabethtown, KY and was the son of the late Grover Roscoe Ash and Jenny Pauline (Gooden) Ash.

Jim served 21 years in the US Navy and was honorably discharged and retired from the naval security group at Ft Meade, MD as Chief Petty Officer CTTC. Served on board the USS Oxford AGTR-1 in the naval blockade of Cuba during the Cuban missile crisis. Also served on the USS Jamestown during the Vietnam War.
Jim was also known as Daddy, Papaw, Uncle Jim, Big Jim, and Mr. Ash. Loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Jim was known for his love and passion for his family, the rebuilding of his 1967 Camaro, and the Washington Redskins.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Louise R. Ash of Severn; five loving children, Eddie Ash (Patty) of Manchester, MD, Toby (Ash) Muller of Pasadena, MD, Matt Ash (Ellie) of Aurora, CO, (Pete) James Ronald Ash, II of Glen Burnie, MD and George Ash (Nicole) of Yokuska, Japan; brother, Tom Ash (Margie) of Chicago, IL; sister, Becky Edlin of Elizabethtown, KY; thirteen, grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. James is preceded in death by his brother, Grover Ash and brother in law, Windel Edlin.
The family may receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Temple Baptist Church, 15 Old Stage Road, Glen Burnie, MD 21061 at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
