Funeral services for Dr. Charles Moses Siever, 79, of Topeka, KS, former Kansas State College health Department director, who died Friday, January 15th, 1954, at his home were held at the Euclid Methodist church in Topeka. Burial will be in Holton, KS cemetery
Born September 1, 1874 in Grant County, West Virginia, Dr Siever came to Jackson County, KS with his parents in 1880. He attended Holton elementary and high schools. Dr. Siever was graduated from Campbell University at Holton and also attended Baylor University in the state of Texas. He received his medical degree from Kansas University in Lawrence.
He practiced medicine in Texas, Oklahoma and at Holton in Kansas prior to joining the K-State staff where he headed the health department for 19 years — from 1916 to 1935.
A captain in the Kansas National Guard, he served in World War I. He has been a resident of Topeka, KS were he was a member of the Euclid Church, Shawnee County Medical Society, American Medical Association, honorary member of the Kansas Medical Society, the Topeka IOOF Lodge and Holton Lodge, AF & AM, Royal Arch Masons, Helena Chapter, OES and Capitol Post of the American Legion.
Dr. Siever had his five children and their families with him Christmas, at which time he presented each with a 1954 automobile. In addition to his widow, Mrs. Lillie Siever of the home; the children he leaves are two daughters, Mrs. Galvesta S. Harris, Dayton, OH; Mrs. Lillian S. Stanley, Parsons, KS; three sons, The Rev. Travis W. Siever, Parsons, KS; Dr. James M. Siever, San Antonio, TX; Dr. Charles Siever, Des Moines, IA; and eight grandchildren. The Holton Lodge will conduct the graveside services.
