Fred C. Palmquist, 83, of Hot Springs Village died February 10, 2014. He was born August 21, 1930 in Barron, WI, the son of Oscar and Minnie Palmquist.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl in 2008, his parents, his stepfather Reinholt Fahlgren, two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; daughter and son-in-law of New Bern, NC; and grandson and wife of Raleigh, NC; a brother; numerous nieces and nephews.

Fred is a US Army veteran, having served during the war in Korea. He and his wife owned and operated Palmquist's Department Store in Postville, Iowa until moving to Hot Springs Village in 1986. In the Village, he had The Village Painter, Inc. business for 20 years.

A memorial service was held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Community of Joy Lutheran Church. Pastor Ross Worch officiated.
