Services for John E. Brogden, 84, Nashville, formerly of Pembroke, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Gamble Funeral Home with the Rev. William Catlett officiating.

Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West.

Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Alive Hospice, Nashville, of natural causes.

A native of Washington, D.C., he was born Aug. 26, 1929, the son of the late James Brogden and Carrie Johnson.

He had worked as a material inspector for Phelps Dodge and was an Army veteran. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church, Washington.

Survivors include his children, Mrs. Marshall (Sheila) Quarles, Pembroke, Rex (Betty) Whitlock, Tonya Burks, and Clarence (Carolyn) Burks, all of Guthrie, Mrs. William (Sharon) Osborne and Duncan Burks, both of Clarksville, Laura Burks, Chicago, Theodore Hall, Dayton, Ohio, Kenneth Williams, Elizabeth, N.J., Victor (Denise) Burks, Colorado Springs, Colo., Wayne Burks, Decatur, Ala., and Mary Young and Wallace Whitlock, both of Hopkinsville; and 48 grandchildren.
