William "Bill" "C.D." Dement Jr., 83, of La Plata died May 5, 2009, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.
Born June 24, 1925, in Waldorf, he was the son of the late William C. and the late Viola Dement. He was a graduate of La Plata High School. He was married to two wonderful ladies, Betty Ann Jameson Dement and the late Helen Coffey Dement. He had six children, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Navy as a cook on board a ship in the South Pacific during World War II. After his discharge, he began his career as a new car and truck salesman. Retirement was boring and being an avid golfer he went to work at Wicomico Country Club as a cook and bartender. This afforded him the opportunity play golf in his spare time. He also loved to shoot pool and played in two pool leagues until he was 81. One of his biggest passions was dancing. He would go out almost every Saturday night dancing at either the White Plains Moose Lodge or the Bel Alton VFW.

He loved his children and was especially proud of their musical ability and their musical accomplishments.

He is survived by his sons and daughters, Jim, John, Mike, Pat, Fran and Betsy.

A private memorial service will be held in his honor.

Arrangements are being handled by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata.
