Nell Stephens, 84, of Greenville, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004.

Born in Pickens, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Herbert A. and Clara Rampey Newton.

She was a homemaker, and was a member of White Oak Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Dempsey Stephens, of the home; a daughter, Debbie Allen, of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Violet Stephens, of Greenville; a sister, Thalia Elrod, of Pickens; two brothers, Willis Newton, of Piedmont, and Norman Newton, of Pickens; grandchildren, Keleigh Barker, Amy, and husband, Stephen Byrd, Michael Barker, Lee, and wife, Lindsay Allen, Steve Allen, Jessica Allen and Joe Allen; and a great-grandchild, Alyssa Alley.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Lou Barker.

Services will be Friday, July 9, 2004, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be prior to the service, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the funeral home.
