Eldest daughter of Capt. Woolf (Babe) Barnato and his first wife, Dorothy Maitland Falk, as a young woman Virginia dreamed of becoming an actress.
She met British actor Morton Lowry (born Edward M. Lowater in Lancs), who appeared with such luminaries as Errol Flynn, Basil Rathbone, and David Niven. The two set sail for Hollywood, and were married on a San Francisco stage in late February of 1938--a few months after Morton's arrival in America.
They settled in Los Angeles and had a son, but the marriage did not last.
Returning to England, Virginia married again in 1954 to Yann Flory, with whom she had two more sons.
At the time of her death, she was survived by her three children and younger sister, Diana.
