Information from Little Cedar Lutheran Church, written in 1977:
Nora Jenette Johnson was born April 2, 1897, on a farm west of Adams of parents Nels and Gertrude Johnson.

She was baptized in the country church and she vividly remembers that day in July 1910 when news spread that the church our old pioneers had sacrificed heavily to get built was burning.

With a class of twenty-seven Nora was confirmed in the Norwegian language at Little Cedar Church in Adams and records show there has not been as large a class since this one on May 28, 1911.

In the one room country school she completed eighth grade and in moving to Adams with her parents availed herself of the one year high school being offered at the public school.

Nora was employed for several years at Torgerson Daylight Store where she met Nordeen Torgerson. They were married June 16, 1917. Nordeen passed away shortly after they observed their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary in 1967.

They were blessed with three children: Vance and Roy of Adams; and Dorothy (Mrs. Joe Smith) of Suffern, new York; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Nora's main interest, the love and devotion to music, began at an early age. She recalls how when her father was too busy to take her, rather than miss her music lesson she would walk the three and one half miles to town and back.

Her talent manifested itself in services to her church - serving as organist in the days when the foot pedal pump organ was in use. For over forty years Nora was a member of the senior choir and smaller musical groups of quartets and octets. She has been active in all areas of the Little Cedar ALCW, served at three different times as president of the former "Ladies Aid" and was active on the executive board of the Austin Circuit Women's Missionary Federation.

She is a charter member who helped organize the Mission Circles in 1929.

Nora still lives in the same home that was built and she moved in as a bride 67 years ago. She and a sister, Ida Knutson are the remaining two from a family of eleven children.

Nora is thankful to God - to her parents - to dedicated pastors for the spiritual guidance, and influence and the manifold blessings received through worship with her family and fellow Christians in Little Cedar Congregation throughout her many years.
