      One of Brainerd's oldest residents, Patrick D. O'Brien, brother of Con O'Brien, passed away in Hibbing Sunday afternoon.
      Mr. O'Brien had spent most of the winter with his daughter, Mrs. Clark Henry, in Hibbing, and death came as the result of an attack of pneumonia. He had been ill only a week and was 78 years of age at the time of his death.
      Mr. O'Brien was a familiar figure about Brainerd, being employed in the shoe department of the O'Brien Mercantile company store for many years. He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., April 18, 1853, and had spent the past 40 years of his life in Brainerd. His wife preceded him in death 8 years [ago].
      He is survived by two brothers, Con, of this city, and James of Wisconsin; by a sister, Mrs. Thomas Green, Wis.; by two children, Mrs. Clark Henry of Hibbing, and Harry O'Brien of Brainerd, and by three grandchildren, Jean, Mary and John Henry of Hibbing.
      The body will be at the J. O'Brien residence, 706 N. 4th street, up to 9:45 a. m. Tuesday. At 10 a. m. services will be held in the St. Francis church, Rev. James Hogan officiating and interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. (Brainerd Daily Dispatch, ca. 02 February 1932)
