Born Oct. 15, 1940, in Greene County, he was the son of Elbert and Lucille (Birdwell) Vest.
He was a lineman for IBEW Union Local 1393 in Indianapolis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, peacetime service. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Linton.
Survivors include two sons, David Allen Vest of Solsberry and Erin Vest of Indianapolis; two daughters, Patti Foutch of Charlotte, N.C., and Wendi Stewart of Indianapolis; one sister, Maxine Novak of Linton; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Floyd Vest and Melvin E. Vest.
Graveside services will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the Rev. Raymond New officiating. There will be no visitation.
