Born and raised in Johnstown, Pa., Mr. Mitchell was a resident of Burlington Township for more than 30 years.
He was a retired Sergeant Major from the U.S. Army where he served more than 30 years, serving two tours of duty in both Korea and Vietnam. After the service, he also had worked and retired from the New Jersey Department of Corrections.
Leo was an avid hunter, but his true passion was fresh water fishing.
Husband of the late Frances M. Mitchell, to whom he was married for more than 63 years, he is survived by four sons, Leo Mitchell Jr. (Patricia) of Burlington, Richard Mitchell (Carole) of Delran, Frederick Mitchell (Carmen) of Lumberton, and Robert Mitchell; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services and interment in the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be held privately.
