Born Feb. 12, 1927 in Lathrop, he was the son of the late Arthur & Fanchan West Quinn.
He attended Ames-Bern High School. Early in life he was a coal truck driver. He was also employed at M&R Milk Co., Athens Bottling Co. and as a supervisor for Abbott Laboratories in Columbus. He was a member of the Canaanville United Methodist Church and a longtime Athens County resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the occupation of Italy.
Jim is survived by a daughter, Melinda (Richard) Binkley of Gahanna; two sons- Patrick (Joy) Quinn of Stewart and Michael (Susie) Quinn of Torch; six grandsons- Patrick (Kristin) Quinn, Matthew (Sara) Quinn, Derek Quinn, Austin Quinn, Clinton Quinn and Aaron Quinn; four great grandchildren- Brodyn, Emma, Cooper and Colton. Jim is also survived by his best friend, Lola Mae Lackey and her family.
Besides his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Zimmerman Quinn in 1996; a sister, Fauna Riley; two brothers, Lawrence "Hick" Quinn and Rex Quinn.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday 11:00am at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Rev. James Lambert officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens. Friends may call Wednesday 4-8pm at the funeral home.
