Myron F. Voland, 89, of Rockville died Monday morning February 10, 2014 at Field of Dreams Assisted Living, Kiel. He was born August 6, 1924 in the Town of Schleswig, son of the late Roy & Verna (Voigt) Voland. Myron attended grade school in Rockville and was a 1942 graduate of Kiel High School. In 1946 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country until 1948. On May 20, 1950 he was united in marriage to Arleen H. Heimann at Grace Lutheran Church, Haven. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2007. Arleen and Myron farmed for most of their married life in the Town of Meeme. Later in life they attended agricultural trade shows throughout the Midwest selling specialized lighting for farm equipment. Myron developed many lasting friendships with customers and other vendors throughout his travels. Myron was an active member of the community. He served with the Kiel School Board from 1964 until 1973 holding the office of president for 7 years. He and Arleen enjoyed big band music and ballroom dancing. They formed and were long time members of a local dance club. In more recent years he was involved with the Kiel Senior Citizens, where he looked forward to playing cards and socializing. Myron was proud to be a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Louis Corners. Survivors include his daughter; Myleen Voland, rural Kiel, grandchildren; Andrea (Rob) Fetherston, Milwaukee, Abbi (Bryan) Kuether, Kiel, Kevin Voland (Fiance Mandy Meyer), rural Kiel, Steven Voland, rural Kiel, great grandchildren; Madyson & Nolan, and a sister; MarJean Plate, Hilbert. Myron is further survived by daughters-in-law; Marilyn (Don) Krupp, Kiel, Judy (Tim) Mueller, rural Kiel, and an aunt; Margaret Voigt, Beloit along with nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; Arleen, a son; Mark Voland, brother-in-law; Virgil Plate, sister-in-law; Florence (Palmer) Kracht. Funeral services for Myron will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday February 13, 2014 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Louis Corners with Rev. Ted Olsen officiating. Burial will take place at the Rockville Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 3:00pm until the time of services. Myron's family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Field of Dreams for the care and compassion he received and to the volunteers and many friends at the Kiel Senior Center who helped Myron in so many different ways.
