LAYTON – Billy Talley Thomas, 83, passed away Monday morning, February 10, 2014 surrounded by his loved ones. He was a very strong willed man and fought hard up until the end.

He was born May 11, 1930 in Clarksville, Tennessee the son of Wilbur and Lucille Talley Thomas.

Billy married Amy Johnson on February 1, 1952 in Layton, Utah.

He retired from the United States Air Force as a MSgt. after 20 years of service. Billy served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. After retiring he worked at Hobart and Trans Alert.

Billy was a proud member of the American Legion and VFW.

He loved woodworking, fishing, working with numbers, and had a great sense of humor.

Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Amy, two sons, David W. (Chris) Thomas, Michael A. Thomas, five daughters, Carrie (Gilbert) Luna, JoAnn (Ben) Poulson-Rusu, Laurie (Sam) Deelstra, Kristy (Dusty) Wadsworth, Sheryl (Dave) Wakefield, 24 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two brothers, Gene Thomas, Tommy Thomas and sister Brenda Brooks.

Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Maurice Thomas, Bobbie Thomas, two sisters, Martha Saunders, Grace Pill, granddaughter, Brooke Thomas and grandson Ryan Poulson.

Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
