Martha "Mattie" Carter married William Harry Wolfe on 8 July 1889 in Bentonsport, Iowa. They had a son, Charles Alfred Wolfe, then divorced.

Mattie married George Leonard Jack on 24 August 1893 in Bentonsport. He adopted Charles.

The couple also raised Perl Carter, son of Mattie's first cousin, Charles Carter.

They divorced in 1936 after 43 years of marriage. George Jack died in Seattle in 1945.

Mattie is buried in Bentonsport Cemetery.
