Emery Layne, 79, of Hurricane Road, Kimper, died Friday, June 15, 2001, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
He was born in Pike County, March 30, 1922, a son of the late Julis and Melinda Thacker Layne. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the Regular Baptist Church, and a World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Layne; and three brothers.
Burial will follow in the Layne Cemetery, Kimper. Arrangements are under direction of Community Funeral Home of Zebulon.
