Henry Don Gibbons, the son of William Harvey and Bessie Mae (Butts) Gibbons, was born March 6, 1930 near Greenville, Missouri. He attended school in Greenville. His family moved frequently in the rural areas of the Missouri boot heel picking cotton yearly. In 1941, the Wappapello Dam was built nearby, causing the water to overtake Greenville and their homestead. They soon after moved to Tarkio, Missouri where Henry helped build the 1st National Bank addition and worked for local farmers.

On July 29, 1949, Henry was united in marriage to Beverly Jackson in Glenwood, Iowa and they became the parents of two children, Terry and Corliss. Henry worked for the same farmer for sixteen years when in 1966 he had the opportunity to begin farming for himself, north of Tarkio. In 1969 he purchased his first 120 acre farm and soon after was able to purchase 3 more farms, raising and selling hogs in Atchison County. In 1973, Henry was chosen the "FHA Farmer of the Year" and in 1980 they were awarded the "Farm Community Betterment Family of the Year." Henry retired in 1994 and moved to Warsaw, Missouri. Henry loved farming and enjoyed fishing and coon hunting as hobbies. In 2006, they returned to Tarkio, Missouri due to Henry's declining health. He passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014, at his home in Tarkio, at the age of 83. Henry was a member of the First Baptist Church, Tarkio.

Besides his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his twin brother, Joe Gibbons; brothers, Charlie and Kenneth Gibbons, twin brothers, Jack Gibbons and Gene Gibbons; sister, Agnes Hale, twin sisters, Nora Hardwick and Flora Stane.
