Ralph T Diaz (Failo),age 85, a 54-year resident of Needles,Calif., passed away peacefully to be with our Lord on March 20 2013,in Las Vegas,Nev.,with his family at his side.
Failo was born in Bridgport,Ariz.,on May 11,1927,to Antonio and Zeferina Diaz. He married Maria Armida Escobar on Sept.,25 1956,in Bisbee,Ariz. They then moved to Needles in 1959.
Failo served in the Army in Munich,Germany,from 1945 to 1949. He was employed for 29 years by Southern California Gas Company and retired in 1988.
Failo was active in the community,serving as President of the local Optimist International chapter,a member of Elks Lodge 1608 and was very involved with St. Ann's Catholic Church.
The happiest times of his long life were spent with his family. He remained actively involved in his children,grandchildren,and great-grandchildren's school and sport activities. Failo loved to travel with his wife,leatherworking,golfing,painting,fishing and especially having morning coffee with his buddies at Bashas'.
Failo is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Maria Armida of Needles;his children Dante(Doris)Diaz of Needles,
Adriana(Rudy) Barboa of Kingman and David(Malibu)Diaz of Needles;grandchildren,Erika,Jennifer,Arianna,Brenda,Davina,
Blanka,Domingo,Anthony,Andre,Kevin,Morgan,Cortlin and Phillip;
great-grandchildren,Kionasina,Va'atausili,Ta'ala,Maninoa,Yuri,
Jada,Aubry,Rebecca,Max,Taylor,,Ryan,Kenedi,River,Derek,Parker,
Kyler,Cruz,(due date April 9 2013),Kynzie and Tatum.
Viewing will take place Sunday,March 31,at Dimond & Sons Mortuary from 3 to 7 p.m. with vigil and Rosary starting at
6 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday,April 1 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Needles. Services will be held
by Father Amaro with interment following at Needles Riverview Cemetery.
A gathering and luncheon service will follow at St. Ann's
Hall.
In lieu of flowers,the family wished donations be made in the name of Ralph Diaz to NYDEF(Needles Youth Development Education Foundation)P.O. Box 47,Needles,Ca 92363.
