Funeral Services for Mrs. Katherine Madison James, 77, Daytona Beach, who passed on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 will be 11 AM, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 500 Colfax Avenue, Daytona Beach, with Brother Roy Crapps, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5-8:30 PM, Friday, Feb. 7, at RJ Gainous Funeral Home.
Mrs. James was born in McGregor, Georgia on January 24, 1937. She moved to Daytona Beach, Florida fifty years ago where she met and married Mr. Rufus James. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Mrs. James was employed at the Daytona Beach Community College, now Daytona State College, in Environmental Services until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, music and socializing.
Mrs. James was preceded in death by her son: Lindsey Jerome Madison. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband: Rufus James, Daytona Beach, Florida; a son: Freddie Brazil (Linda), Gonzales, Texas; a daughter: Carol James-Smith (William), Daytona Beach, Florida; a grandson: Derreyl Madison, Tampa, Florida; four great-grandchildren, one of whom she reared, DeAndre Thomas, Daytona Beach, Florida; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Catherine Crosby, Daytona Beach, Florida, Mary Lou Williams, New Jersey, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
