JoLyn Brixey passed away peacefully at home on February 6, 2014, while listening to Jimi Hendrix on the radio. She was 52 years old.
JoLyn was born on March 16, 1961 in Murray, Utah. She attended Hillcrest High School, Salt Lake Community College, and the University of Utah. She loved learning, and returned to the University of Utah in adulthood, receiving a Bachelor of Science in 2006 and a Master of Public Administration in 2010. A committed public servant, she worked for 29 years at the Utah Department of Health. We will remember her for her kindness, her quiet intelligence, and her hardworking spirit.
She was preceded in death by her brother Jesse, and is survived by her mother Judy, aunt Trudy, sister Jill, husband Dave, and sons Adam and Glen.
The family would like to thank Dr. Graydon Harker and the staff at Utah Cancer Specialists for their kindness and dedication, and the staff of Community Nursing Services, who helped care for JoLyn during the final days of her life. The family would also like to thank all of the blood donors of the world, whose selfless actions save and improve thousands of lives every day.
A memorial reception will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 E. Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, UT) on Monday, February 10, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation of blood or money to the American Red Cross.
