Danny Hicks Ava, MO

Danny Hicks, 57 years, passed to heaven on February 6, 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Danny was born December 20, 1956 in Mansfield, MO to Edgar Warren and Minnie Frances (Krider) Hicks.

Danny was a life long resident of the Ava community. He graduated from Ava High School, where he thoroughly enjoyed setting school records for the track and field team (one record still withstanding). He was also a member of Ava Church of Christ.

On November 21, 1980 Danny and Brenda Lea Trent were united in marriage in Ava, MO and he was a beloved father to 8 children.

Danny's journey in the workforce began as a little boy milking cows. He later joined our defenders as a police officer and served as a Douglas County Deputy for several years. Danny spent the rest of his life driving a truck, first for Heath & Son, then as an owner operator. He also successfully created his own trucking business Hicks Nationwide, LLC.

Danny enjoyed going on walks throughout his land, naming his favorite spots. He could never turn down a Mizzou game or a good bonfire. His children were his pride and joy. Family was, without a doubt, the thing he loved most in life.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Minnie and an infant son, Michael.

Danny is survived by his wife, Brenda Hicks (Ava, MO), his son Chris & wife Angie (Forsyth, MO), son Phillip & wife Ashley (Kimberling City, MO), son Austin (Ava, MO), step-son Paul (Ava, MO), daughters Melissa, Bonnie, Callie (all of Ozark, MO) & Rebecca (Ava, MO). Grandchildren Brady, Alexis, Hazel, Lyla, Brielle, Kevin, Jasmine, & Michaela. His brother Larry Hicks & wife Mary, brother Roy Hicks & wife Sally (both of Ava, MO), his sister Janice Sanders & husband John (Marshfield, MO), nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Danny will be Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, 10:00 a.m.in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Denney Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Elder Scott Huffman. Memorials may be made to Denney Cemetery or Ava Church of Christ.
