The Times Recorder [Zanesville], Monday, Aug 19, 1940. GEORGE H. BEST CALLED BY DEATH. McConnelsville, O.-Aug 18. George H. BEST, 97, whose direct descendants numbered 53, died late today at his home here following an illness of a few days. He was a life-long resident of Morgan county. He was born in Penn Township but had resided here for 30 years. Mr. BEST was a member of Grace Methodist church. He was twice married. His first wife, Rachel JONES BEST, died several years ago. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Margaret SMITH BEST; two sons, Joseph of McConnelsville and Charles of Meigs; a daughter, Mrs. Minta EMBREE of McConnelsville; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 P.M. at the Grace Methodist church with Rev. WEES officiating. Burial will be made in Malta Cemetery.
