Mrs. Minerva Spaulding Smith died at her home in Littleton Saturday at the age of 73 years after a brief illness of three weeks. Deceased was born in Saratoga Co., New York, and was married to Martin Smith at the age of 19. They moved to Canada in 1854, to Iowa in 1858 locating on a farm in Fairbanks township. After a residence there for 9 years they moved to Michigan where Mr. Smith died. The family returned to Buchanan County in 1876 where she has since lived. She leaves seven children. They are Dr. N. S., of Marshalltown; Mrs. Martha Van Eman, of Jesup; Mrs E. B. Little, of Littleton; Elliot B. of Owassa, Michigan; Dr. Charles W., of Grayling, Michigan; A. J., of Independence; M. E., of Littleton. The funeral occurred at Littleton Sunday.
