John P. Farris was born in Lawrence County, Indiana April 18, 1840 to parents George Farris (1800-1860) and Evaline (McCown) Farris (1813-1888) of Rockcastle County, Kentucky. John Married first, Cynira Farris (1845-1862)in 1861. They had one son, Dr. Ruben Copas Farris (1862-1940). John married second, Sarah Margaret (Robins) Farris (1845-1888) in 1863. They had nine children. John P. Farris passed away in Lawrence County, Indiana February 25, 1917. John was interred at Brodhead, Rockcastle County, Kentucky. His marker has not been identified.
