Staff Sergeant Towne was killed in the
line of duty when U.S. Army Air Corps
BT-13A #42-42629, on which he was a
passenger, crashed into terrain, two
miles northeast of Lawrence, Tennessee.
2nd Lt. George J. Brudnicki, the pilot,
also perished.
Son of Walter E. and Albertine M. (McGill)
Towne.
