Alma Josephine Cox Scaggs, of Riner, went to be with the Lord on February 6, 2014, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cicero and Gay Akers Cox; husband, Sidney Arnold Scaggs; sisters, Izola Moye and Hazel Scaggs; brothers, Grady, Brady, Shelba, and Elba Cox; son, Arnold Wayne Scaggs; and granddaughter, Angela Juanita Fisher.

She leaves behind a daughter, Alma Jacquelyne Scaggs Fisher; son, Walter Tony Scaggs and wife Nancy; sisters, Ovada Weeks and husband Marvie, Ignas Montgomery and husband Shelly; brothers, Elwood and Archie Cox; sister-in-law, Sadie Roberts and husband Hoover; grandsons, Anthony Fisher and wife Cynthia, Christopher Scaggs and wife Sabrina; granddaughter, Angela Victoria Scaggs; step-grandson, Kelly Vest; adopted grandsons, William and David Richardson; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kaitlyn, and Matthew Fisher, Emily, Mitchell, and Kendra Scaggs; special nieces and nephews, Eddie and Betty McKay, Carlos and Sharon Carroll, Ronnie Carroll, Bonnie Ottis, Dewayne and Brenda Trout, Barbara, Vickie and Wilma Bower, Jeff and Sharon Roberts, Rena Earles, Joyce Woolwine and Leo Scaggs and Linda and husband Johnny Raines; as well as special in-laws, Elva Jones and Leslie Fisher.

Special thanks to Rena Earles for all the time that she spent in the hospital and rehab and all the kind deeds that she did. Many thanks to all the Physical Therapists at Radford Rehabilitation that worked with her in her last days to make her happy; especially Donna, Ami, Amanda, and Travis-with his hugs. Special thanks to Keith for always making her laugh and always ready to help. And Cassy for always making her laugh as well. Thanks also to all her special CNAs and RNs. Josephine was a very special woman and loved by so many. She loved everyone with all her heart.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 9, 2014, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Richard Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Arrangements by Horne Funeral Service.
