Robert "Bob" Swanson, 91, of Warren, MN, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 5, 2014 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Robert Emil Swanson was born August 2, 1922 in Comstock Township, rural Warren, the son of August and Christine (Dahlin) Swanson. He graduated from Warren High School in 1940. During the war years, he worked at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA and in the shipyards in Richmond, CA. He returned to Warren and started farming with his brothers and then on his own, retiring in 1994. On October 14, 1950, he was united in marriage to Lois Palmer at Grace United Methodist Church where he became a member and served on several boards. Robert was an agent for Marshall County Mutual Insurance Company for over 30 years.
Celebrating his life is his son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Shari of Viking, MN; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kathy of Warren, MN; daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Mike St. Germain of Argyle, MN and daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Richard Thurston of Grand Forks, ND. Robert was blessed and loved his ten grandchildren: Erika (David) Erickson, Brad (Katie) Swanson, Katie (Mark) Ellerbusch, Kim Swanson, Ryan Swanson, Amber (Taylor) Sannes, Emily (John) Tweten, Abbie St. Germain, Jamison St. Germain and Molly Thurston and five great-grandchildren; Kaden Pierce; Ethan, Braden and Isaac Ellerbusch and Laila Thurston. Robert has many nieces and nephews and cousins and his brother-in-law and wife, Ed and Beryl Palmer; sister-in-law, Lorene Engelstad and brother-in-law, Dick Palmer and Marilyn Palmer.
Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved when any of his family just dropped in to visit. He liked to fish, hunt, garden, play cards and attend sporting events of any kind. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Lois in 2010; his parents; his brothers, Alvin, Wilbert, Ralph and Donald; sisters, Clarissa, Vera and Evelyn and infant grandsons, Casey and Cody Thurston.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Evangelical Covenant Church in Warren, MN.
VISITATION: After 5:00 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service on Sunday at DuBore Funeral Home in Warren and one hour before services at the church on Monday.
INTERMENT: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren, MN
