Walter Henry Andrews III, 58, passed away on February 2, 2014 at his home in Columbia. The family will receive friends at the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 12:30 p.m., A memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. An interment service for the family will be held later that afternoon at the Andrews Memorial Cemetery in Andrews, SC. As a teen at Folly Beach, Walter loved the thrill of dangling his toes off a finely-waxed surfboard. Though he never made it to Costa Rica or Borneo, he loved the images of those lucky stiffs celebrating the beauty and power of God's world from the end of 6-by-2 foot slabs of fiberglass. Closer to home, Walter found peace at the end of fishing poles from the ponds of the midlands to the inlets surrounding Charleston Harbor. Walter was an engineer with the Westinghouse Corporation for over 25 years. He was the son of the late Vivian Hiers Andrews and the late Stuart Murray Andrews. Walter is survived by his two beloved children, Jason Oliver Andrews, and Annie Elizabeth Andrews (Travis Poole); and by his faithful brothers, Stuart Andrews and Mark Andrews, and their families.
