Anita Mae "Lucy" Liston Shipman, 68, of Hueytown, passed away February 6, 2014. She attended McAdory and Hueytown High Schools and graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1982. She had a long career in nursing having worked at UAB, B.M.C. Princeton, St. Vincent, Lloyd Noland, and Brookwood Hospitals. She was a longtime member of Arnold's Chapel Methodist Church, but most recently was a member of Crossroad Baptist Church. Lucy was preceded in death by her father Joseph Patrick Liston, Jr.; mother Ada C. Squires Liston Walls; brother Joseph Patrick Liston, III; and her brother-in-law John L. Wallace. She is survived by her husband Leland C. Shipman; children Karen Jo Cole, Judith Renae Cole Yessick (Russell), Monica Jean Cole Leftwich (Michael), Norris Gene "Buddy" Cole, Jr. (Vera), Amber Liston Shipman Allison (Robby); step-children Barry L. Shipman, Vincent K. Shipman (Wanda), and Denise Ann Dobbs (John); grandchildren Evan Russell Yessick (Amanda), Morgan Renae Rayburn, Michael Cole Leftwich, Lindsey Renae Yessick Collie (Samuel), Lydia Marie Cole, Christian Rose Leftwich, and Abigail Jean Cole; step-grandchildren Fallon Shipman Cone (Craig), Kailyn Shipman Hallford (Chad), Cassidy Shipman Smith (Ryan), Spencer Shipman, and Tristan Shipman; one great-grandchild Christopher Jared Allison; sisters Jackie Liston Wallace, Penny Liston Williamson (David), Alisa Vann Walls, and Sherlyn Walls Hand (Charles). The visitation will be Saturday, February 8, 2014, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Sunday, February 9, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home, with Rev. Jimmy Bradford officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
