Norman W. Mertens, 56, of Two Rivers, a veteran employee in the Maintenance Dept. of the Paragon Electric Co, Two River, died at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital Thursday night, where he had been a patient since Sunday.

Funeral service held Saturday at Grace Congregational Church, Two Rivers the Rev. Carl Ipsen, pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial in Pioneers’ Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers. Deja & Martin Inc. Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers.

Mr. Mertens was born April 5, 1902, in Two Rivers, son of the late Fred and Lena Wilke Mertens He attended the public and St. John Parochial School for elementary education. Since 1941 he had been an employee of the Paragon Electric Co. He was a member of the Squeekers Club of Tisch Mills and the Goodfellowship Club of the Paragon firm.

Besides his wife, the former Theresa Brusky, whom he married Feb. 24, 1925, in Two Rivers, he leave a son, Wilbur of Sheboygan; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Owens
and Mrs. E. H. Meineke of Chicago; two brothers, John Goedjen and Fred (Ola) Mertens of Two Rivers, and three grandchildren.
