Randy Morris Roberson, age 66, of Florence, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at ECM Hospital after a short illness. He was born Sept. 28, 1947, in Florence. Randy was retired from the Sheet Metal Worker's Local No. 48 on disability. He attended Shoals Community College studying in drafting and design. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran, was a member of St. John United Methodist Church, and a charter member of the Shoals Frisbee Club.
Visitation for Randy will be today from 6-8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at 10 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Brother Greg Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Melva Wylie, Jerry Wylie, Phillip Peck, Mike Lindsay, David McGee, Pat Wachter, Will Clemmons, and Craig Vaughn.
Mr. Roberson was preceded in death by his mother, Polly Roberson; brother, Doug Roberson; and grandparents, Luther and Minnie Roberson and Luke and Martha Jane Morris.
He is survived by his father, Randle Roberson; sister, Linda Day and husband, Ron; brother, Rick, all of Florence; his faithful companion of many years, "Little Bear; also, a host of family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Randy's family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Lyman Mitchell for all his care through the years and to the ECM ICU staff who showed kindness and care during the last few days.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. John UMC Memory Garden, 457 County Rd. 7 Florence, AL 35633.
