FRANCES DANIEL

Mrs. Frances Porter Daniel, 93, of Harbison in Columbia, SC, went to meet her Lord on February 7, 2014.

Born in Greenwood, SC, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lee Porter and Carrie Hollingsworth Porter (Manning), and the step-daughter of the late George Pruitt Manning. She was the last of her family, being the only child. She was the wife of the late O.C. (Pete) Daniel and mother of the late (Capt.) George Laton (Dan) Daniel of Columbia, SC. She is survived by her daughter, Jackie L. Daniel of Greenwood and Columbia, SC, (her caretaker); nephews, Lawrence (Ann) Daniel, Bill (Teresa) Daniel, Danny McAbee of Israel and neice, Pat McAbee of Virginia Beach, VA; brother-in-law, Laton Giles Daniel of Greenwood, SC.

She was retired from Greenwood Mills, Sloan Plant.

For seventeen years she taught in the Youth Dept. of Cambridge United Methodist Church, 201 Kitson Street, Ninety Six, SC 29666, and Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 1422 Ninety Six Highway, Greenwood, SC 29646. She is a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, 211 N. Main Street, Greenwood, SC 29646, and Grace United Methodist Church, 410 Harbison Blvd., Columbia, SC 29212, also a member of the Women's Club and the DAV Ladies Auxiliary and a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Monday at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Phil Thrailkill, Rev. Gene Brown and Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be "Coot" Henderson, Frank Brown, Aaron Bishop, Reggie King, Joe Chandler and Gene Ouzts.

Honorary escort will be Preston Rogers and the DAV Chapter #42, Harold Forister, members of Den 1 Cub Scouts, Sunday School members, Michael Jennings, JD Cooley, Steve Grooms and Ray Hinton.

The family will be at 958 Sunset Drive, Greenwood, SC 29646, and will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 4 to 6 Sunday afternoon.

Memorials may be made to the Methodist churches listed above or to the church of choice.
