WOMAN DIES SUDDENLY. Mrs. Charlotte Gifford Came to City
Eight Years Ago.

The many friends of Mrs. Charlotte T. Gifford will be grieved to learn of her sudden death Tuesday at the home of Dr. W. H. Cooke on Winter street, Haverhill. Mrs. Gifford was born in Centerville, Mass., March 27, 1841. Her maiden name was Charlotte Lumbert. At the age of 22 after her marriage to James Gifford, she moved to West Falmouth and lived there until she moved to Haverhill eight years ago to reside with her daughter, Mrs. Annette Cooke, wife of Dr. W. H. Cooke. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Cooke, Mrs. Gifford leaves one sister, Mrs. Love C. Crowell of Hyannisport. Mrs. Gifford has been ill for about three years and the end coming peacefully, as it did, in the very arms of her daughter, to whom she was so dearly attached, marks a climax of a Christian life spent in good cheer and kind deeds. During her stay here in Haverhill, she has made hosts of friends who will bemoan her loss. Mrs. Gifford was a member of the Centre church. The funeral was held at the home of W. H. Cooke, 103 Winter street, at 2.30 p.m., Thursday, where her friends and relatives were invited.

The remains were taken to West Falmouth Friday morning for burial beside her husband. Rev. Asaph S. Wicks of Pawtucket, a nephew of the deceased read the commitment service.
