Born December 16, 1919 in Gibsonton, PA, son of Germaine Casteen Kyle and George Kyle, Sr.
While stationed at Camp Grant in Rockford, he met Ruth Virginia Nelson and married her on February 3, 1945.
He was the founder and president of Rockford Hardware Manufacturing Corp. for 47 years until his retirement.
Veteran of the US Army, serving in the Medical Corps in the Pacific Theater in Guadacanal. He was a recipient of a Presidential Citation.
Long time active member of Zion Lutheran Church. Also member of the Six Wheelers Motor Home Group and the Model A Club. He enjoyed restoring several Model A's.
Gene had a wonderful zest for life. He was a man of his word and was respected for his honesty and integrity. He appreciated children and enjoyed entertaining them.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Ginny"; daughter, Marsha Wurtlin, Rockford; sister, Elmira Steer, Belle Vernon, PA.; numerous nieces and nephews including Barry (Tom Boycks), Lake Mills, WI., George (Gloria) Mustybrook, Mary Gene Bridge, Belle Vernon, PA., Norman (Sara) Luce, Cincinatti, OH. And Bonnie (Lou) Hegedus, Chambersburg, PA.
Predeceased by his parents, 3 sisters, 4 brothers and son-in-law, Don Wurtlin.
