Sam Joe McLaughlin, 89, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014.

Funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday, February 10, 2014 in the Minton Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Sam was born April 28, 1924 in Yantis, Texas to William and Minnie McLaughlin.

He married Vada Hamil on March 7, 1952 in Clayton, New Mexico.

Sam proudly served in the United States Army. He retired after 38 years with J.M. Huber. An avid bowler he enjoyed watching sports on television. He was a brilliantly talented musician playing guitar in several bands, dances, and on the radio all over the Texas Panhandle.

Sam was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Alan McLaughlin; brothers, Jim McLaughlin, Buddy McLaughlin, Louie E. McLaughlin; sisters, Edra Keith, Essie Allen, Oma Magnum, Etta Mae Sandlin and Lois Carpenter.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Vada of the home; daughters, Jeanna Roybal and her husband, Dave of Paducah, Kentucky, Lisa Bennett and her husband, John of Fritch; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Brian, and Mike Felker, Nikki Jackson, Ryan Luna, Dylan Roybal, Samantha Williams, Nicole Loveless; 18 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family.
