FRICK - Nellie Virginia, 90, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014 while surrounded by those she was most proud of - her loving family. She was born on February 5, 1923, the daughter of John and Maude Hatter. A lifelong resident of Louisville, she was a 1941 graduate of Okolona High School. Upon graduation she married the love of her life Jack Frick, spending the next 72 years together. Their family of three children eventually led to 11 grandchildren and at last count - 22 great-grandchildren. After raising her three children, she was the longtime manager of the old Marianne Shop, a faithful volunteer at the Christian Church Home of Louisville, being named Volunteer of the Year in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 2002. She was a former member of the old Fairview Christian Church and Middletown Christian Church and member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kate Hatter. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, John H. "Jack" Frick; sons, Dr. John "Jack" Frick (Pat), Kenneth W. Frick (Pam); daughter, Kathy Jo Key (Buddy); daughter-in-law, Marie Papasadero (Otto); 11 grandchildren, Jeff Frick, Greg Frick, Chris Frick, Travis Frick, Lindsay Swearingen, Ashley Frick, Erin Singleton, Ben Frick, Taylor Phelps, Hunter Frick and Matt Frick; 22 great-grandchildren; and sister, Martha Penrose. Her funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 2040 Buechel Bank Road with burial in Hebron Cemetery. Visitation is 1-7 p.m. Sunday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road. The family asks that any memorial contributions be made in Nellie Frick's name to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
