Harry was married to Elizabeth(McClear) Satterwhite on February 13, 1890 in Louisville. KY. The family were members of St Patricks Catholic Church downtown Louisville, KY. Harry worked with the N.Y. Laundry company as a driver for 40 years in Louisville. He died of pneumonia on September 28, 1939. According to his death certificate he was born in Louisville on January 17, 1853. His tombstone states 1852. His daughter Blanche Satterwhite is listed as the informant on the death certificate and it does not state his parents. He was 86 when he died. He was buried 10/2/1939 at St Louis Catholic Cemetery in Louisville.
Harry’s paternal great grandfather John S Satterwhite was in the 10th Virginia Regiment during Revolutionary War. He served from 1777-1783. He was at Valley Forge with George Washington during that brutal winter. He saw action at the battle of Brandywine, Monmouth and Germantown. He was captured during the battle of Savannah and also at Charleston. After the war he was given a 400 acre land grant and he moved from Caroline County, Va to Franklin County, Kentucky in 1783. He was one of the first men to apply for a Rev war pension in KY. Harry’s maternal great grandmother was Delilah Tyler, son of Captain Robert Tyler who settled in Shelby County, KY w Squire Boone in 1779. Tyler served in the Revolution under Captain William Harrod and was on the Indian expeditions with George Rogers Clark. Tyler died at Tyler Station in 1815 and buried there.
