John Samuelson, 87, Breckenridge, MN passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus.

John was born on March 2, 1926 in rural Wahpeton to Harold and Clara (Schmitt) Samuelson. He grew up and attended a rural school and farmed with his father south of Wahpeton on a farm known as the Bjornson's farm. In 1942, the family moved to the Jergen's farm north of Wahpeton until 1948 when they bought the Conzemius farm east of Breckenridge.

John married Rosemary Lawrence on May 28, 1952 at St. Adelbert's Catholic Church, Wahpeton by Father Eckhart. He farmed with his son Millard and semi-retired in 1995 when he rented out most of the farm acres only farming a few acres along with his hog operation. John also worked for the ASC office in Wahpeton in the spring planting trees. John fully retired in 2005 due to health problems.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hobby farming, puzzles and crafts. He really enjoyed selling seed to loyal and honest farmers for 26 years and playing cards every Thursday at the Breckenridge Senior citizens and Friday at the Wahpeton Senior Center.

He was a member of St. Mary's of the Presentation Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Eagles Club.

John is survived by his wife, Rosemary; two sons, Monte and Millard Samuelson; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, and a daughter, Mavis Samuelson.
